In a survey done with people in their 90’s the question was asked about what regrets these seniors had. Most of the answers were surprisingly the same. They expressed regrets about not taking more risks in life or doing things that would live on after they were gone or just simply having more fun.

When I do Wellness Assessment with clients, one of the areas we look at is their personal satisfaction with the amount and level of sleep they’re getting each night. In doing hundreds of assessments with people, it is a rare client who sleeps well or long enough each night. Why is adequate rest so important for coaches and clients alike?

When we do coach training for a local church, were hoping for two separate results: transformation for those who will eventually be coached and transformation for the coach him or herself. The latter is often a surprise for the trainees because thats not why they signed up they wanted to help others but didnt give much thought to what God might be up to in their own lives.

Although life coaching is a cutting-edge and rapidly growing field, I often get asked, What exactly is a life coach? We can sometimes complicate things by thinking that life coaching should be difficult and that it takes years of schooling to understand. It isnt and it doesnt. We can also think that a life coach is the clients therapist, mother, or new best friend. She is not. In the simplest terms, a life coach is a conversationalist one skilled at conversations.

It has been pure joy to watch a moms face light up when she realizes that most of her own expectations about motherhood, and those placed by others, are not what makes a good mom. We now have good research that says that church programming alone does not consistently produce mature disciples. What McNeal is clearly saying is that life coaching offers us a better alternative for discipleship.
