What is Missions Coaching?

Missions Coaching as defined by this community is coaching those who are directly involved in missions:  either missionaries serving on the field themselves, or those serving missionaries on the field (for instance, missions executives, member care personnel, etc)  Missions Coaching, as we define it, involves a cross cultural component.  Missions coaching traditionally involves  coaching those who have left their own country to reach those of another language and people group.

However, the face of missions is changing!  Missions coaching might also be an American coach coaching an American who is planting a church in an Asian community in an urban area of the U.S.  Missions coaching might be a German coach who coaches an Indian couple who have  left their own people group to do mercy ministry in another region of India.  Missions coaching might be a European coach who is coaching a Korean doing churchplanting in Europe.

In all these examples, missions coaching is identified as coaching those who are SENT by God to do CROSSCULTURAL service.

The Mission Coaching Community is moderated by Tina Stoltzfus Horst, Tim Olson, and Keith E. Webb. Your input is welcome!
