A Leader’s Life Purpose Handbook by Tony Stoltzfus [This book has been retitled as the Christian Life Coaching Handbook ed.] is clearly one of the best Life Purpose Coaching books on the market. Tony offers a clear definition of life purpose coaching that will be readily understood and applicable. This book is filled with coaching concepts, skills, and practical exercises to apply what you are learning. You will develop and hone these skills, through real life dialogue, exercises, and sample questions to get you started. In its entirety this book is complimented with healthy and balanced Biblical insight.

With the first read through “A Leader’s Life Purpose” there is a clear understanding that the external call of God is an important and vital ingredient in discovering life purpose. Tony balances looking inward to discover your gifts, passion, abilities, and personality with giving serious consideration to the external call of God upon your life. From a distinctly Christian worldview, it was encouraging to see the inclusion of this element in the life purpose process. There is no lingering question “where does God’s call play into destiny discovery?”

As a pastor I have witnessed great concern on the part of many individuals who have worried un-necessarily over the possibility of having “missed” God’s will for their lives. Those who are challenged by that notion will benefit from the coaching approach and Biblical insight this book offers. Tony’s biblical approach to discovering and understanding God’s call is both liberating and refreshing.

Tony has carefully and intricately woven solid theological teaching throughout this book, giving God the prominence and place He deserves in this important discovery process. The use of this book as a tool will certainly give a fuller, broader, and healthier approach to knowing God as well as knowing yourself.

The companion A Leader’s Life Purpose Workbook is designed to give to a coaching client or workshop participant, and includes all the exercises in the handbook.

Summary
The practicality of this book will be recognized from the beginning. Having utilized the concepts and principles in my own life and ministry, this book has already helped, children, family members, colleagues in ministry, college students and congregation members. A Leader’s Life Purpose will be a resource that you will go back to again and again as you coach life purpose discovery.
